Annual General Meeting

Annual General Meeting

News from the AGM held on 5 Feb. 2024

This meeting marked the end of an era. Pat Wright, our long-standing Club Secretary has decided to step down from the role. The Club thanked her warmly for all her hard work over 13 years and marked her retirement with a bouquet of flowers, a voucher for her to spend at a garden centre of her choice and a small memento.

The meeting elected Alan Kitson as Chair and confirmed the position of Peter Taylor as Treasurer. Other member of the committee are David Barraclough, Peter Hanson, Andy Wilson, Joan Beastall. Rob Millington was newly elected to the Committee.

The Chair reported that the Club had had a successful year off the green and a mixed one on it.

The Club installed a new irrigation system and refurbished the wooden surround to the green and considerable work was carried out on the Pavilion. Members carried out external work on the green – mainly painting and gardening.

The Fun Day for members was successful and coaching sessions for new bowlers were well received.

In addition to the Secretary retiring, the groundsman also retired. Norman will be a hard act to follow. We welcome Mark Benson to the role.

We now have 8 teams operating in the summer period and a team in the Huddersfield Winter League. We launched a new team in the 6 Man vets league. Clayton West Club allowed us to use their green for our home games. In the 2024 season, we will be bowling our home games at our own green, on Monday mornings.

The Club is thriving with 66 members, roughly 50-50 female and male. The finances are in a good state and the committee is looking to enhance income streams during 2024.
